Optimising Images for Web Accessibility


In our accessibility statement overview, we highlighted the fact that many people are not aware that those who are partially-sighted or blind can use the internet. People who are visually-impaired are enabled by on-screen readers that convert text into audio.

The same lack of awareness is present, amongst some web designers, with regards to optimising web images. As ethical web designers we assign all images on the House of PSP website an ALT (Alternative) Attribute.

This information is represented as text. Therefore, screen readers can locate it, convert it to sound and describe the image.
